Rust Protection is Crucial!

Rust protection is crucial for the Suzuki Jimny due to its reputation for developing corrosion on the chassis, rear wheel arches, and body mounts, especially when exposed to road salt or mud.

While new models have some factory protection, proactive, early application of rustproofing is highly recommended to prevent expensive structural damage, maintain resale value, and extend your Suzuki Jimny's lifespan.

Key Reasons to Rust Protect your Jimny!

Here's why we highly recommend your Jimny to have our Rust Protection:

  • Vulnerable Areas: Not every garage is familiar with which areas are known to rust. At k2 we have years of experience on rebuilding Suzuki Jimny's so we actually do know what were talking about!!
  • Most importantly we take pride in our work and have a passion for these little truck! Common rust spots include the rear wheel arches, boot floor, slam panel, and chassis rails. All 8 body mounts are prone to get effected.
  • Off-Road Exposure: Mud and salt trap moisture against the metal, accelerating corrosion.
  • Factory Limitations: Despite some galvanization on newer models. Suzuki's factory rustproofing is often considered insufficient for long-term protection, especially in harsh climates.
  • Long-Term Investment: having your Jimny rust protected is essential to prevent structural damage and maintain high resale value. Our method of rust protection is  very thorough and well documented so it's all clear for you to see exactly what we have done
  • From the start to finish we will photograph the areas of concern

Why is rust treatment so important in the UK?

UK roads are heavily salted, many Jimny owners invest in rust protection treatments to protect the chassis and underbody.

Whether you own a classic 2003 model or a newer version, rust can become an issue if not addressed early. Learn where Suzuki Jimny's commonly rust and how K2 Autos can help you safeguard your vehicle with long-lasting protection.

Common Rust Areas in Suzuki Jimnys

Suzuki Jimnys are known to develop rust in a few key spots over time, especially if they’re exposed to moisture, road salt, or off-road adventures. Here are the most common rust-prone areas:

  • Rear Wheel Arches: A frequent trouble spot, the rear wheel arches can trap mud and moisture, leading to rust.
  • Boot Floor: This area is susceptible to water ingress, especially if seals are compromised.
  • Chassis and Underside: As with many 4x4s, the Jimny’s chassis is exposed to the elements, making it a hotspot for corrosion.
  • Door Sills and Frame: Rust can develop here due to dirt and water build-up.

If left untreated, rust in these areas can lead to costly repairs, such as replacing panels or welding new sections most importantly it will also fail its MOT.

  • Early Protection: If you have purchased a second hand Jimny have it inspected by us and we will  let you know the level of protection it has or is needed.  And if you have purchased a brand new Jimny have it protected soon as you can. We have rust-treated many gen4 Jimny's for customers who have had them sent to us from main dealers before they have take delivery to themselves.
  • Regular Cleaning: Thoroughly wash the underbody to remove mud and salt. Making sure you let moisture dry up soon as its possible.
  • Reapplication: We recommend having your Jimny toped up with a single coat of underseal after every 12month. This way we could keep an eye on main areas that can still be effected even though a coating has been applied. We would immediately notice any slight bubbling and act on them areas first (ie peel off the old bubbled coating apply the rust converter and then re underseal). All this would be photograghed.

To Book your Jimny in with k2 please drop us an email or through WhatsApp messaging and we will let you know what slot we have available. Distance is not an issue from our end we could come and collect and drop off when all done.

Our Top Level of Cover

Suzuki Jimny cavity rust protection is crucial due to the model's high susceptibility to corrosion, especially in rear wheel arches, the boot floor, and chassis box sections. Usually garages that do the undersealing miss out the inside of the chassis rail but here at k2  We use a product which first burns off the rust and then once its left to penetrate we then apply the main shutz high build layer of protection both products are  applied via aerosol injectors into chassis through capped of access points and open ends behind the bumpers.

Key Areas for Cavity Protection:
  • Chassis Rails: Inject into all chassis holes and cross members.
  • Rear Wheel Arches & Boot Floor: Common rot spots requiring thorough coating.
  • Doors and Sill Panels: Apply inside doors and rocker panels.
Our Method Treatment Process Explained.
  1. Clean & Dry: Remove all mud, rust flakes, and ensure the underbody is completely dry.
  2. Apply Cavity Rust Inhibitor: We use  a long probe injector to spray cavity wax into all internal box sections and chassis rails.
  3. Underseal: Apply a durable underseal to the chassis, suspension components, and rear wheel arches.
  4. Reapply: we recommend this treatment is annually inspected and a light coat is applied to stay on top of this. Regularly check and reapply protection, especially after heavy off-road use or winter salt exposure.
